Prosecutors Association of the Republic of Moldova

Prosecutors Association of the Republic of Moldova set up on April 29, 2005, is a pubic body created on the basis of free will and common professional interests of prosecutors aiming at implementation of objectives and tasks specified in its Statute. At the time of set up Association comprised 670 prosecutors.

The major objectives of the Association are: 

• Building prosecutors efforts efficiently exercise constitutional attributions;

• Support to prosecutors in law enforcement activities;

• Human rights protection in combating organized crime and corruption;

• Support to prosecutors in ensuring independence;

• Protection of professional and social rights and interests of prosecutors and their family members;

• Learning the experience of countries with advance democracy regarding the role of prosecutor’s office in a state of law, social guarantees and their independence, prosecutor’s professional career, relationships with other public authorities, aiming at harmonization of national legislation to the Council of Europe norms that would comply with the requirements of future integration of the Republic of Moldova into the community of EU states;

• Contributing to implementation of recommendation REC(2000) 19 regarding the role of Prosecutor’s Office in the penal justice system, adopted by Ministers Committee of the European Council on October 6, 2000;

• Direct and active participation in implementation of EU-Moldova Action Plan;

• Participation in effective implementation of political economic and institutional reforms in the country;

• Providing moral and substantive support to prosecutors in cases stipulated in the Statute.

• Council;

• Censor Commission.

The Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Moldova was admitted as a member into the International Prosecutors Association in March 2005. The Association of Moldovan Prosecutors aims at establishing and deepening relationships with prosecutor’s offices members of the International Prosecutors Association.
